Correctly used and installed Saniflo units should not emit any smells. The latest models also have a carbon filter incorporated into the air inlet valve. We also recommend a regular cleaning routine to keep your Saniflo in optimum condition. Follow the procedure below: 1. Switch off power to unit 2. Fill a bucket with about 8 - 9 litres of water, pour a strong dose of dissinfectant, spirit of salts, or descaler into the bucket of water. (ask your local plumbing supplier for details of descalents). 3. Pour into WC pan. 4.Leave for about 1-2 hours 5. Switch power on, allowing unit to pump out, flush WC.

A Saniflo unit is normally behind a WC suite with a "P" trap horizontal outlet spigot and water supply to the WC suite For the discharge, a small bore pipe (solvent weld plastic or copper 20mm or 25mm depending upon model) must discharge into a soil and vent pipe / discharge stack. Saniflo installations require connection to an electrical power supply (which includes a 30mA circuit breaker- rated at 30A or RCD). When the supply is shared with other outlets and you are concerned these will be affected, ensure a 6A fuse is inserted in a suitable holder prior to connection to a shared circuit.

As the function of the units is to pump waste and water away, it should not usually be necessary to dig up the floor to lay the discharge pipework. It is possible to run the pipe-work from low level to a higher level. e.g. from a basement to ground floor level, or from 1st floor up into a roofspace and then join to a soil stack.

Items of this nature should not be disposed of through the domestic Saniflo macerator range as they are likely to cause a blockage. Our commercial unit (Sanibest) is mre suitable for accidentally wasted .

Most of the domestic range units operate at approx 55 decibels and for the flush of a toilet the motor will run for no more than 10 -20 seconds. The Sanibest and Sanicom are commercial models and are produce more noise (61-63 decibels) as they have larger wattage and stronger motors - and better performance

A Saniflo macerator can only be fitted with a WC which has a 'P' trap pan (Horizontal outlet).

A Saniflo is normally discharged into a soil and vent pipe or discharge stack. However, it is possible to connect directly into the sewer at invert level. The discharge pipe should discharge into the gulley in the direction of flow. Entry can be through the wall of the manhole, which should be sealed to ensure a watertight joint. Pipes should be suitable for use under ground and protected against frost and also against subsidance from the effect of vehicles passing above.

We do not recommend the use of drain unblocking products (eg containing acids etc) these will tend to damage the rubber / plastic components within the unit. Please call us such that we can advise a Service Engineer.

A Saniflo macerator is designed to fit on the back of a WC. However, it is possible to install the unit behind some panelling by utilising a short extension piece which should not exceed 150mm in length. Longer extensions tend to cause an accumulation of waste at the entry to the Saniflo product.

Sanishower is suitable only for pumping away waste water from a shower or wash basin. For hot pumped soapy waste water use a Sanivite or if it is for a commercial application Sanispeed or Sanicom. Sanivite, Sanispeed and Sanicom are specifically designed for accepting hot soapy waste water pumped from washing machines, dishwashers or other fixtures.

All discharge pipework should be either copper or rigid solvent weld plastic. Flexible pipes (e.g. those normally using metal grab ring joints) can be used. However, this pipework is ony suitable if used without joints since these tend to narrow the bore of the pipe, and also it should be supported every 1/2 metre to avoid dipping in the pipe-run. Do NOT use 90deg bends in rigid solvent weld plastic. Instead, use 2 x 45 deg elbows back to back. We also advise to instal an isolation valve as near to the pump as possible. This will allow the unit to be removed easilly and alleviate waste from the head spilling onto the floor or cabnetry.

All vertical lifts should rise as directly above the unit as possible. Any initial horizontal run from the unit prior to a vertical lift should not exceed 30-50cm. Only 1 lift is permitted, at the start of the run, with a 1 in 100 fall from the high point.

All Saniflo products have a 2 year warranty subject to correct use and correct installation.

Yes, and for more arduous applications, or those where one is concerned with visitors who may abuse the product (e.g. tampons and other non organic waste) Whilst we do not advise these items should be intentionally used for this purpose, our commercial unit (Sanibest) is less likely to be affected or damaged by this type of product. That said, one may need a Service Engineer to unblock it. Our Sanispeed and Sanicom grey water pumps for office kitchens, cafes, resataurants and laundries are capable of accepting very hot water (65 Deg C water - and up to 90 Deg C for 2 minutes)
